Vasco Célio

Biography

Born in 1975, Vasco Célio lives in the Algarve, where he develops various projects in the field of visual arts. As an artist, he has worked on reflections with a documentary perspective on Portugal, individually or collectively, with institutions, curators, and researchers, resulting in both exhibition projects and the publication of several books and catalogs. Notable projects include collaborations with curator Nuno Faria and researcher Maria Manuel Valagão.

He has exhibited individually with projects such as Torch, Murcado da Balbúrdia, Quando a Estrada Acaba, and collectively in the Troika Project. He regularly collaborates with performance artists João Galante and Ana Borralho. Trained in photography at CENJOR, he completed the MobileHome artistic production course and a postgraduate degree in Art and Cultural Programming at INUAF.

He regularly publishes, with examples including the books Troika, Algarve Mediterrânico, and Vida e Vozes do Mar e do Peixe. He is a founding member of the F32 studio, later STILLS.
